Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a multiple rotation absolute encoder in which a malfunction of a counted value of an up-down counter due to a voltage drop can be detected by eliminating a deviation of an original position from the encoder and an external unit.
CONSTITUTION: A multiple rotation absolute encoder inputs an incremental signal to an up-down counter 7, and backs up an incremental signal detecting sensor and the counter 7 by a battery, and comprises means for clearing the counter 7. A value of the counter 7 may be present with a value separate from a value to be cleared. A signal having a specific frequency of a power source cable 19 is placed, and clear of the counter 7 may be judged according to presence/absence of the signal. Two different voltage levels are monitored, and when the voltage of the cable 19 exceeds a higher voltage level, the counter 7 may be cleared.
