PURPOSE: To position a spindle quickly by providing a guide plate having guide grooves for guiding the spindle to a spindle head and also a spindle transferential means for transfering the spindle and then lacking it.

CONSTITUTION: A guide plate 17 is so provided through a cylinder 16 as to be attached and detached readily at the center section of the base plate 15 provided at the lower face of the skirt section of the spindle head 2 of a multiple spindle drilling machine. Guide grooves 21a and 22a for guiding a spindle guide 18 to position a spindle 8 at a specified position so as to slide freely is formed on a plate 17. In addition, the base plate 15 is provided at the outer periphery of the lower face with a cylinder device 26 which is a spindle transferential means with the base end being capable of horizontal rotation through a support shaft 27. As a result, the spindle can be positioned accurately and quickly.
