Abstract:
PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of a module by adjusting a relative angle between birefringent wedgelike plates or birefringent planer plates and dealing with variance in relative position relation. CONSTITUTION:When there is variance in the relative position relation between laser diodes 14 and 16, the variance is dealt with by adjusting the rotational angles of the birefringent wedgelike plates 32 and 34. In this case, the rotational angles of the birefringent wedgelike plates 34 and 34 can be adjusted so that light transmitted through two optical paths from the laser diodes 14 and 16 and made incident on the birefringent wedgelike plate 34 is emitted from the birefringent wedgelike plate 34 along one optical path. Therefore, when the module is assembled, the laser diodes 14 and 16 can be coupled with an optical fiber 38 with high optical coupling efficiency irrelevantly to the relative position relation between the laser diodes 14 and 16 by rotating and adjusting the birefringent wedgelike plates 32 and 34.
