Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable an operator to easily retrieve a picture without remembering a file name or the like by comparing retrieval picture data with picture data in prescribed pages or areas of stored pictures.
CONSTITUTION: When a document of plural pages is filed, the first page is managed as a document for retrieval. At the time of file retrieval, the document of the first page is read by a CCD 101 and is stored as compressed picture data in a bit map memory(BM) 108. First compressed picture data for retrieval stored in the retrieval data area of a magnetooptical disk is stored in a BM 110. Contents of BMs 108 and 110 are compared with each other by a coincidence circuit 109, and this operation is repeated until both of them coincide with each other. When they approximately coincide with each other, a CPU 12 reads out the picture file corresponding to coinciding picture data for retrieval from the file area of the magneto-optical disk and successively expands and outputs it.
