To provide a multispot focus detecting device which suppresses an increase in memory capacity needed for sensor system unevenness correction even when the number of focus detection areas is increased.
The multispot focus detecting device which has focus detection areas distributed at the center part and peripheral part of a focus detection picture plane is equipped with a focus detection sensor which has multiple pixels and photodetects a couple of optical images formed by a focus detection optical system, a correcting means which corrects variance of the focus detection sensor output when a uniform luminance plane is observed, and a memory means which stores correction data that the correcting means refers to when corrected; and the correcting means has different correcting modes between the center part and peripheral part of the focus detection picture plane.
