A plurality of centrifugal pumps 12 are arranged on a single drive shaft 14 driven by a motor 16, constituting an extremely low specific speed multistage centrifugal pump 10 with a specific speed (rpm, m3/min, m) of 100 or less. The drive shaft 14 is supported by ball bearings 18 and 19, and the moving distance of the drive shaft 14 in the radial direction is lessened. As a result, the clearance between an outer diameter of a suction opening 40 of an impeller 20 and a corresponding inner diameter of a housing 21 becomes 0.2 mm or less, or one thousandth or less of the diameter, alleviating leakage. Reduction in leakage improves pump efficiency.
