Abstract:

To provide a multistage piston compressor equipped with an enhanced performance by reducing the leak loss between a cylinder bore and piston and also the mechanical loss.

A plurality of pistons 25 and 26 compress the refrigerant while they slide in cylinder bores 13a and 13b with rotation of a rotary shaft 20. A swash plate 22 to give reciprocation to the pistons 25 and 26 rotates, and a crank chamber 30 is formed from the back surfaces of the pistons 25 and 26, and an intermediate chamber 38 is provided to connect the discharge side of the cylinder bore 13b with the suction side of other cylinder bore 13a. The crank chamber 30 and intermediate chamber 38 are put in mutual communication through a passage 45, and the pressure in the crank chamber 30 is made the pressure in the intermediate chamber 38.
