A multitubular heating tube 30 rotatably provided in a casing 20 is rotated in a heating tube rotation direction F, and steam S supplied from a steam supply source S1 is supplied to the main heating tube 31 of the multitubular heating tube 30 and to sub-heating tubes 32a, 32b of a sub-heating tube 32. An object E to be treated, which is fed into the casing 20, is scraped and agitated by circumferential movement of the sub-heating tubes 32a, 32b and a scraping blade 43 accompanying the rotation of the multitubular heating tube 30. While conveying the object E in an object conveying direction G with the object pressed to the casing 20 and to the heating tubes 31, 32a, 32b, the moisture content included in the object E is vaporized by heat exchange with the steam S introduced into the heating tubes 31, 32a, 32b to dry the object to a predetermined moisture content.
