A music selection apparatus 130 selects the music suitable for conditions from a plurality of pieces of music which can be played back, and includes a music selection part 135 which selects the music with a high degree of association to the updated content based on a result obtained by comparing first text information to be obtained from the updated content with second text information to be obtained from accumulated music data on the network. Thus, the music suitable for the updated content is automatically played back linked with update of the content, for example, the blog and the writing on the network, etc. In addition, a side which updates the content on the network also controls the music to be heard by an individual or a plurality of users.
