Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical sound generating device that enables a musical performance wherein whether legato control is performed or not can be discrimianted over all the tones without providing any extra operator only by note-on and note-off events and can generate a musical sound with a musical sound with attacks in a chord musical performance.
SOLUTION: When two successive sounds overlap with each other, legato control is performed on condition that note-on time difference between both the sounds is larger than a threshold. When the two successive sounds overlap with each other, the generation of the latter sound is suspended for a certain time and the legato control is performed on condition that there is no following note-on event in the time. When the two successive sounds overlap and the velocity of the latter sound is larger (or smaller) than a threshold, the legato control is carried out. When the successive sounds overlap and the pitch of the latter sound is higher (or lower) than the pitch of the former sound, the legato control is performed.
