Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new mutant enzyme obtained by a genetic engineering technique using a mutant gene originated from Bacillus stearothermophilus and effective for the synthesis of geranylgeranyl diphosphate playing a role in a biosynthetic path.
CONSTITUTION: A new DNA containing an amino acid sequence including the amino acid sequence of the formula, etc., coding for a mutant farnesyl diphosphate synthetase effective for the synthesis of geranylgeranyl diphosphate found in a biosynthesis path of a chain isoprenoid compound playing an important role on the life activity of various organisms and useful e.g. for the genetic engineering production of the enzyme. The DNA can be produced by performing a mutation treatment of a gene coding for a farnesyl diphosphate synthetase originated from Bacillus stearothermophilus, subjecting the mutant gene to expression and selecting a gene capable of producing an enzyme to synthesize geranylgeranyl diphosphate.
