PURPOSE: To obtain a new N-(3-pyridylalkenyl)sulfonamide derivative useful as thromboxane A2 antagonistic agents, thromboxane A2 synthetic inhibitors, prostaglandin H2 antagonistic agents, antithrombotic agents or antiallergic agents.
CONSTITUTION: An N-(3-pyridylalkenyl)sulfonamide derivative expressed by formula I [X is H, OH, halogen, nitro, cyano, lower alkyl or lower alkyloxy; R is O(CH2)nCO2R1, CR3=CR2-CO2R1 or (CH2)n-CO2R1 (R1 to R3 are H or lower alkyl; n is 0-4); Z is H, lower alkyl or lower alkyloxycarbonyl; m is 0-4], e.g. ethyl 4-[3-[N-(4-chlorobenzenesulfonyl)-N-(ethoxycarbonyl)amino]-1-(3- pyridyl)-(E)-1-propenyl]phenyloxycarboxylate. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting a compound expressed by formula II (R4 is R, protected OH or protected aldehyde) with a compound expressed by formula III.
