PURPOSE: To obtain an N-acylamino acid composition having excellent surface active action, bactericidal action, metal corrosion inhibiting action, etc., and useful as a detergent, dispersing agent, emulsifier, antibacterial agent, antiseptic agent, ultraviolet absorber, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This composition contains an N-acylamino acid having an odd carbon number acyl group or its salt (e.g. N-pentadecanoyl leucine monosodium salt) as a main component in an amount of 0.01-90wt.%. The amount of the amino acid is 0.01-90wt.% in the case of using the composition as a toilet soap, 0.01-20wt.% as a lotion and 0.01-50wt.% as a shampoo. The composition is usable as a face-washing cosmetic, shampoo, synthetic soap, toilet soap, body lotion, skin cream, rinse, face lotion, anhidrotic, bathing agent, etc., in the form of liquid, cream, paste, mousse, etc. It is also useful for the preparation of a physiologically active agent such as carcinostatic agent and antiviral agent.
