Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new N-(α-acyloxyethyl) compound which is a useful raw material for N-vinyl compounds in high yield at a low cost under mild conditions.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 ar each independently H or a hydrocarbon; R3 is a hydrocarbon; (p) is 0 or 1; (n) is an integer of 1-10] or formula II, e.g. N-(α-acetoxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidone. The exemplified compound is obtained by carrying out the addition reaction of vinyl acetate with 2-pyrrolidone in the presence of an alkali (e.g. cesium hydroxide).
