NEW MATERIAL:An N-cyanoalkylisonicotinic acid amide derivative of formula I (R and R' are H, 1W7C alkyl or 3W6C cycloalkyl; n is integer of 1W5).
EXAMPLE: N-(cyanomethyl)-2-chloroisonicotinamide.
USE: An agricultural and horticultural bactericide exhibiting high controlling effect against blights of paddy rice plant such as rice blast, bacterial leaf blight, damping off, etc., and bacterial blights such as bacterial spot of cucumber, etc., either by soil, foliar or seed treatment, effective even against resistant bacteria and free from undesirable effect such as phytotoxicity to the plant.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a cyanoalkylamine compound of formula II with 2-chloroisonicotinic acid chloride of formula III in a solvent optionally in the presence of an acid acceptor.
