NEW MATERIAL:N-Short-chain acylaminoacids of the formula (R1 is vinylene, ethylene; R2 is the rest part of aminoacid except the amin group.
EXAMPLE: N-β-Carboxypropionyl-DL-α-alanine.
USE: Synthetic intermediate of organic compound, especially surfactant, modifier or chain extender of high-molecular compounds such as polyamide or polyester.
PREPARATION: The reaction of maleic or succinic anhydride with an aminoacid is effected in an inert organic solvent such as THF or dioxane to give said N-short- chain acylaminoacid. The molar ratio of the aminoacid to maleic or succinic anhydride is 1:0.8W1.5, preferably 1:1W1.1. The reaction temperature is preferably 40W110°C. This process causes no side reaction and the reaction proceeds quantitatively.
