Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:N-substituted benzanilide derivatives of formulaI:(R1 is methyl, or ethyl group; R2 is alkyl or alkoxy group).
EXAMPLE: 4-t-Butyl-N-ethyl-2'-methylbenzanilide.
USE: Fungicides effective against piricularia oryzae (blast) of rice plants without damage to harvests. Usable without care.
PROCESS: For example, compounds of formula II are reacted with alkyl halides of formula R1X (X is galogen) in the presence of an alcoholate, e.g. sodium methylate, etc. or an alkali hydride, e.g. sodium hydride, etc. in a solvent, e.g. benzine, etc. to give the objective N-substituted benzamilide derivatives of formulaI.
