PURPOSE: To obtain a new subject derivative consisting of a specific N-(1- substituted ethyl)-2,2-dichlorocyclopropanecarboxamide derivative and useful as a germicide for agriculture and horticulture having activity on plant disease injuries without exerting a bad influence upon crops.
CONSTITUTION: 2,2-Dichlorocyclopropanecarbonyl halides expressed by formula I [R1 to R3 are H or alkyl; Y is halogen] (e.g. 2,2-dichloro-1-ethyl-3- methylcyclopropanecarbonyl chloride) are made to react with a compound expressed by formula II [X is halogen; (n) is 0, 1 or 2; A is O or S] in the presence of a base (e.g. triethylamine) in a solvent such as toluene at ambient temperature for 2hr while stirring and then a toluene layer is washed with 10wt.% hydrochloric acid, sodium hydrogencarbonate aqueous solution and water in this order and dried, concentrated and crystallized to provide the objective derivative expressed by formula III (Z is a group of formula IV) and useful as a germicide, etc., for agriculture and horticulture.
