Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compute a position of its own vehicle with high precision in the case of a curved traveling pattern.
SOLUTION: A vehicle traveling distance detected by means of a traveling distance detecting means 1 and a vehicle advancing azimuth detected by means of an advance azimuth detecting means 2 are obtained at every fixed time, and a micro vector is computed in a micro vector computing means 3. Some of the micro vectors are composed together so as to be generated as a map matching vector by means of a map matching vector generating means 4, and on the basis of the map matching vector, map matching is carried out by means of a map matching means 5 while using map data and the like. In this constitution, each of finely divided sections is approximated by a straight line even in a curved traveling locus, so that position detection precision for map matching can be improved.
