Abstract:

To obtain an adsorbent which is effective for the adsorption and separation of NOx in a combustion exhaust gas generated from an inner combustion engine.

Planar electrodes 13, 14 are disposed in an exhaust pipe 11 from a combustion engine, and the adsorbent 12 for NOx in plasma consisting of SiO2 carrying Mg is disposed between the electrodes 13, 14. While an exhaust gas 16 containing a reducing agent is made to flow from one end of the exhaust pipe 11, a voltage is applied on the electrodes 13, 14 to discharge to generate a plasma flow and to make the plasma flow present near the surface of the adsorbent 12. Thus, NOx in the exhaust gas is adsorbed with the adsorbent 12 for NOx in plasma.
