Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain NOx from being emitted into the atmosphere because of disturbance in NOx emission control by HC and CO in engine restart by oxygen discharged into a catalytic converter after fuel is blocked, when an engine is stopped for a while in a hybrid vehicle combined with engine drive and motor drive wherein the stoppages are frequently repeated.
SOLUTION: A load is applied to the engine by a generator when the engine is stopped for a while by the fuel block, and idling of the engine is controlled thereby after the fuel block, so as to restrain exhaust rich in oxygen from being discharged into the catalytic converter after the fuel block.
