PURPOSE: To facilitate the driving work of a nail, and make the holding power after driving enough, and enable efficient mass production by specifying the dimensions of the outside diameter, the thickness of the periphery, and the thickness of the base of the head of the nail, and forming the whole head in shallow bevel shape.

CONSTITUTION: The head 1 of a nail is put in shallow bevel form with a large outside diameter. The form of the periphery of the head 1 need not always be circular, but free form suitable to give required plate spring effect can be selected. For the mutual relation among the outside diameter D of the head 1, the outside diameter d of the shaft 2, the thickness to of the periphery of the head 1, and the thickness tr of the base of the head 1, roughly D=2-3d, to=0.05-0.15D, and tr=1-2to or thereabout are practically proper ranges. Hereby, at the time of driving, the head is transformed similar to the plate spring, and exhibits shock absorbing effect so that the contact pressure between the under side of the head and the topside of the mounting member may not be excessive, and also the mass production becomes possible by its simple form structure.
