CONSTITUTION: This monolithic catalyst is obtd. by forming a carrying layer containing metal oxide and fine particles having catalytic activity such as zeolite on a monolithic carrier, and further, depositing catalyst metal on the carrying layer. In this production process, the carrying layer is formed by producing the metal oxide by hydrolysis of the source compd. of the metal oxide in the presence of fine particles having catalytic activity such as zeolite.
