Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a steel strip free from rust and yellowing on its surfaces by continuously pickling the hot rolled steel strip, then reversing the passage direction and passing the steel strip through pickling tanks, then moving the steel strip again forward and passing the strip in the pickling device.
CONSTITUTION: The oxide scale formed at the time of hot rolling sticks to the surfaces of the hot rolled steel strip 2 and, therefore, the steel strip is passed rightward in the plural pickling tanks 4 contg. acid solns. 5, by which the scale is dissolved away. In the case the rust or yellowing arises at the ends of the steel strip 2 in the low-speed passage area of the steel strip or during the stop of the passage in the end period of the pickling, such rust and yellowed parts are pickled away by progressing the steel strip 2 backward in the left direction and passing the strip again through the pickling tanks 4. The steel strip is thereafter transported forward again in the right direction and the pickling solns. are wringled away by wringer rolls 7; further, the steel strip is cleaned by plural pieces of rinse sprayers 8 and the washing water sticking to the strip is wringled off by wringer rolls 11. The steel strip is then dried by a drier 12. The steel strip which has no rust and yellowed parts on the surfaces and has high merchandise value is produced.
