Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound, having alga-proofing properties for preventing the growth of algae and useful as an alga-proofing agent capable of sustaining alga-proofing effects for a long period due to the ability of the compound to fix on concrete, etc., by the action of alkoxysilyl groups introduced thereinto.
CONSTITUTION: An organosilicon compound expressed by formula I [R is 1-4C hydrocarbon; (n) is 0-2], e.g. a compound expressed by formula II. This compound is preferably obtained by reacting 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea expressed by formula III with an NCO-containing compound expressed by formula IV in equimolar amounts in a solvent such as acetone in the presence of a catalyst composed of an organotin compound such as dibutyltin dioctate in an amount of 0.05-0.5wt.% based on the raw materials at 50-150°C for 5-50hr. Furthermore, the reaction is preferably carried out in dry nitrogen atmosphere.
