PURPOSE: To determine the price of fruit and vegetable fairly by classifying them by a method in which the product, placed on the tray of a classification conveyer, is transferred and detected of its weight and form during transfer to be classified into a grade according to the weight and form of the product by applying the grade by weight to price counting and the grade by form to sorting respectively, so that the price can be determined correctly.

CONSTITUTION: A piece of fruit or vegetable 23 placed on a tray 3 of a classification conveyer 2 carrying a lot of the tray on it is transferred, and its weight is detected during transfer by an electronic balance. Its plan view shape is detected by a line-sensor camera 5a, while its side view shape is detected by an apparatus 6, which detects the form projected on the vertical plane. The detected signals are input into an arithmetic unit 9 for the judgement of a grade by weight and a grade by form. The result of the weight judgement is processed as number counting data for price counting. On the other hand, the result of the form judgement is processed as sorting and discharging signals to actuate a discharging device 7 synchronizing with the movement of the tray 3, so that each piece of fruit or vegetable 23 is discharged selectively.
