PURPOSE: To provide an optical head attaining information reproduction with high recording density and high C/N for all well-known optical recording media.

CONSTITUTION: Two laser beams 24, 24b radiating from a harmonic mode phased array laser 21 are collected by an objective lens 8 and two laser spots 25a, 25b whose phase difference causes an opposite phase are focused to the information recording face 7a of an optical recording medium while a part of the light is overlapped. Two reflected light signals detected by non-overlapped part of the laser spot are detected by 2-beam detection type photodetectors 22, 23, and regenerative signals obtained from the two reflected light signals are added. Or it is realized by splitting one beam into two laser beams whose phases are opposite to each other by a beam splitting means provided on the optical path.
