Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent chips from scattering by guiding all chips produced in boring into a hollow cylindrical cutter.
CONSTITUTION: Chips 16 produced by a cutting edge 2 ascend along the rake angle 6 of the cutting edge 2. Since a hollow cylindrical cutter 3 is surrounded by a cover 4, the ascending chips 16 are all caught in the hollow cylindrical cutter 3 without scattering to the outside. Further, since an opening on the tip side of the hollow cylindrical cutter 3 is closed by a cylindrical remaining piece 18 of a workpiece produced by the boring, the chips 16 never go out of the hollow cylindrical cutter 3 to the outside after the boring so long as the cylindrical remaining piece 18 is not drawn out of the cutter 3.
