Abstract:

PURPOSE: To extend a mold life by eliminating the opening at the mating part of divided graphite mold, subsequently preventing the penetration of molten metal to the mating part and the generation of breakout.

CONSTITUTION: The mating parts of divided graphite molds 11a, 11b to be mated for forming the casting space 12 is bonded by the heat resistant adhesive 18. A molten metal is continuously poured into the mold 5, which fastens the graphite molds 11a, 11b by the fastening members 17a, 17b with using the outer flask 16 through the water cooling jacket 13a, 13b, and solidified, the ingot generated is taken out, thus, continuous casting is executed.
