Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject mycelium having low acute toxicity, exhibiting blood cholesterol depressing action, carcinostatic action and immunostimulating action and useful for the treatment of arteriosclerosis, etc., by artificially culturing a basidiomycete and heat-treating the obtained mycelium in a prescribed temperature range.

CONSTITUTION: This mycelium is produced by artificially culturing a basidiomycete of the order Agaricus, etc., and heat-treating the obtained mycelium at 80-260°C, preferably 110-200°C. The water-content of the mycelium is preferably ≤11wt.% and the mycelium is preferably administered at a daily dose of 10 mg to 1g per 1kg body weight.
