PURPOSE: To obtain a molding method by which a compression molded item can be molded while preventing that even uncompressed parts of continuous molding members may cure at the time of compression molding.
CONSTITUTION: A continuous molding member M containing an elastic sheet member M1 with a moisture-curable resin solution L impregrated inside and with a water content W retained on at least one surface thereof is fed into between molding surfaces of a hot press mold 50 by a fixed length. The molding member M is compressed between the molding surfaces to be shaped to the shape of the molding surface. The water content is heated to be vaporized by a heat retained in the molding surfaces, whereby the moisture-cuable resin solution can acceleratedly react to cure. Then, the molding member M is set to the shape of the molding surface. In this molding method for a compression molded item, on the molding member feeding side of the hot press mold 50, the molding member M is clamped at both the outer surfaces thereof between clamping members 43, 45 when the molding member M is compressed by the hot press mold 50. In this manner, the flow of the generated vapor is interrupted.
