Abstract:
Oxidation reactor (R) of elongate form comprising in combination:   - a mixing member (3) including means (2) for feeding oxidising gas and means (1) for feeding an oxidisable feedstock   - a reaction member (4) following the said mixing member, and   -an evacuation member (5) and evacuation conduit (11) for the reaction products, in which the reaction member (4) comprises a central zone including a first packing and at least one peripheral zone including a second packing (10), so that the pressure drop of the said second packing is higher than that of the said first packing, the said second packing forming a sleeve surrounding the said first packing produced with the aid of at least one refractory material and thermal insulant. This reactor includes an outer steel enclosure (8), a concrete wall (9) and a steel element (13) surrounding a series of monoliths (6) forming a mixing member (3) followed by the reaction member (4) including a series of monoliths (6) forming juxtaposed channels (12). Use of the reactor for controlled oxidation of an oxidisable feedstock using a gas mixture containing an oxidising gas.
