PURPOSE: To provide an electronic apparatus capable of simply inputting alphabets or the like without preparing keys corresponding to the alphabets or the like and requiring an independent correspondence table or the like.

CONSTITUTION: Numerical keys 14 are arranged on the operation panel face of a portable type still image transmitting equipment. Alphabets are allocated to the numerical keys '1' to '9' in addition to numerals. In a character input mode, an input character can be selected by the number of times of continuous depression of each key and the capitals or small letters of alphabets can be inputted by means of the keys '1' to '9' in addition to the input of numerals. Plural codes are allocated to keys '*', '#'. In the character input mode, an input code can be selected by the number of times of continuous depression of the key '*' or '#' and plural codes can be inputted by means of the keys '*', '#'. Thus numerals, alphabets and codes can simply be inputted only by the twelve keys, i.e., ten keys '1' to '9' and the code keys '*', '#' without requiring an independent correspondence table.
