PURPOSE: To provide a method for erasing in which a record becoming not erased according to a temperature change of a reversible heat-sensitive recording medium is not caused when recording and erasing are repeated by using the medium and an apparatus adapted for the method.

CONSTITUTION: When a record is erased by using a reversible heat-sensitive recording medium 4 which contains electron donative coloring compound and electron accepting compound as main ingredients, records by heating the ingredients at a higher temperature of melting temperatures of the ingredients, separates and crystallizes electron heat receiving compound by heating them at a lower temperature than the melting temperatures, the record is detected at a temperature of the medium 4 by temperature sensing means 8. The medium 4 is heated at a temperature controlled in response to the detected temperature by heating means 6 to erase the record.
