PURPOSE: To enable the operation of a clutch mechanism simply by slightly shifting a finger for thumbing a spool by arranging a connecting operating part for performing the operation to connect the clutch mechanism at a position near the outer periphery of the spool on the surface on the spool side of frame parts.

CONSTITUTION: This double bearing reel is obtained by rotatably supporting a spool 4 between left and right frame parts 1 and 1, internally installing a clutch mechanism (C) in either of the frame parts, forming a disconnection operating part (A) for performing the operation to disconnect the clutch mechanism arranged in the rear of the spool in a disconnection operating member 9, forming an operating part (B) for performing the operation to connect the clutch mechanism in a connection operating member 10 capable of performing the sliding operation on at least one of the mutually opposite surfaces (S) and (S) of the frame parts internally installing the clutch mechanism, constructing the connection operating member so as to freely operate in a circular arc area with the shaft center (X) of the spool as the center and setting the operating direction so as to perform the operation to connect the clutch mechanism by the forward operation.
