PURPOSE: To make the device small in size by forming an operating lever out of a fixed member which can be freely strained.
CONSTITUTION: An operating lever 1 is formed into a square pole, is provided with a spherical grip 1a integrally at its upper end section, and with a flat base plate section 1b integrally at its lower end section. The base plate 1b is integrally installed in place. The operating lever 1 is formed out of a member capable of being freely strained, and is so designed that it can be strained so as to be deformed back and forth (plus minus Y direction) and from side to side (plus minus X direction) by the push-pull operation of the grip 1a. Each strain gauge A through D composed of a base member made of insulating material such as resin and the like, and of a resistor made of a metallic resisting wire, detects the quantity of strain proportional to stress incurred as a change in a resistance value. Therefore, an electrical signal corresponding to the operating direction and the magnitude of the operating lever can be obtained. Since the device has no movable portion, and is simple in structure, the device can be made small in size.
