PURPOSE: To record a video image tentatively onto a recording medium continuously in an excellent way by using a disk recording and reproducing section to record an input video signal on a recording disk medium.
CONSTITUTION: A video signal fed through a changeover switch 3 is fed to one fixed contact 21 of a changeover switch 20 and an A/D converter 11. The A/D converter 11 converts a received video signal into a digital video signal, the converted video signal is fed to a compression processing circuit 12, in which a data quantity is compressed into one over several numbers through bit compression. The compressed digital video signal is fed to a frame buffer 13 comprising a frame memory, stored once therein and the stored signal is fed to a disk recording and reproducing section 14, in which the signal is subject to modulation processing for the recording. Then the processed recording data are recorded on a prescribed track of a magneto-optical disk loaded to the recording and reproducing section 14.
