PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet recording device with outstanding properties which solve an ink backflow problem, i.e., ink flowing back into an air flow path due to an environmental change in transport, when left to stand, etc., as a conventional problem, in an aeroelectric control-type ink jet recording device which uses electrostatic power and an air stream.

CONSTITUTION: A solenoid valve 6 connected to an area above the ink level of a second ink chamber 3, is connected to a branched chamber 9 in an air flow path so that the valve 6 is constantly open, and the interior of the second ink chamber 3 is opened to an atmosphere through a recording head 1. Consequently, it is possible to check the backflow of ink into the air flow path due to an environmental change in transport, when left to stand, etc.
