PURPOSE: To attain the increase of housing capacity without causing the remarkable increase of the dimension and the price of a device in respect to the automatic feeding/housing device taking out a recording carrier, e.g. a video cassette tape, from a housing rack to reproduce it with a reproducing device.

CONSTITUTION: A video cart machine 1 is provided with the housing racks 5 with two stages in the depth direction for video cassette tape, a housing rack 4 for video deck and a transporting mechanism 8 to transport the video cassette tape between these racks. The transporting mechanism 8 is provided with 1st and 2nd grippers 81R, 81L arranged in parallel to the direction of X-axis, thereby the 1st and 2nd video cassette tapes housed at the front and rear sides of the housing parts 51 are taken out. The tape housing capacity is increased by utilizing the part where a dead space is formed on the rear side of the housing racks, and the video cassette tape is taken out from the housing racks having two-stage system in the depth direction by only slightly changing the existing transporting mechanism.
