PURPOSE: To simultaneously remove COS and CO propylene and reduce poisoning of a catalyst and remarkably lower production cost of polypropylene, etc., by bringing propylene into contact with a specific complex oxide under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene kept in a liquid state is brought into contact with a complex oxide consisting of copper oxide, aluminum oxide and silicon oxide at 0-80°C, preferably 20-50°C under 5-40kg.cm2 pressure to simultaneously remove carbonyl sulfide and CO in propylene. Specifically, the liquid propylene is brought into contact the catalyst by passing the liquid propylene through a tower in which the above-mentioned complex oxide is packed. Furthermore, in the composition of complex oxide, when the sum of total components is 100 pts.wt., the CuO content is preferably 30-70 pts.wt. and sum of Al2O3 and SiO2 is preferably 70-30 pts.wt. and the ratio of Al2O3 and SiO2 is preferably 1:0.5-2.
