Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent uneven wear and noise from being generated, by preventing a pinion from tilting against an output shaft.
SOLUTION: A retreat regulating member 5, regulating retreating of a pinion 4 in a condition that a pinion gear 4a is meshed with a ring gear with the pinion 4 advancing on an output shaft, is engaged rotatably with a pair of pins 37, provided in a thrust ring 36 slidably built in a direction of rotation relating to the pinion 4, serving as the axial center. In a rotational regulating member 6 regulating rotation of the pinion 4 in the beginning of operation of a starter, when the pinion gear 4a is meshed with the ring gear, a tip end of a rotational regulating bar 6b is dislocated from a recessed part 34a of a rotational regulating plate 34, and dropped into a rear end side of the thrust ring 36, so as to release rotational regulation of the pinion 4. By engaging an engaging part 6a, provided in the rotational regulating member 6, with an engaging recessed part 5d of the retreat regulating member 5, retreating of the pinion 4 is impeded by holding an attitude of the retreat regulating member 5.
