PURPOSE: To provide an optical device forming equipment constructed so that the upper mold member may be immediately separated with priority in opening the mold by noting that adhesive force of a forming glass raw material to the mold member is exclusively related to the contact area against the forming surface.
CONSTITUTION: In an optical device forming equipment where a forming glass raw material 4 heat-softened is given by forming with the exerted pressure between the upper mold member 2 and the lower mold member 1, each of the mold members 1, 2 is constructed so that the contact area of the forming surface 2 of the upper mold member 2 against the optical device when formed may be smaller than the contact area of the forming surface of the lower mold member 1. The forming glass raw material 4 is arranged in the prescribed size and shape between the mold members to perform forming with the exerted pressure.
