Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize what is called a softly broken machine by constituting a self-repairing machine based on function redundancy.
CONSTITUTION: Plural function revealing means are provided, and each of these means can reveal preliminarily determined and essentially required functions, and this system includes a retrieving means which retrieves the presence or the absence of functions, which are other than essentially required functions and are not revealed normally but are latently provided, of plural function revealing means, and their contents and a control means which causes function revealing means to reveal the latent functions retrieved by the retrieving means. Since the structure of the system is changed at the time of the occurrence of a fault, latent functions of parts which essentially display the other functions are used to give more redundancy to the machine with required minimum increase of parts. For example, a manual transmission automobile is normally run by the output of an engine, but it can be moved by a starting motor 15 if the engine is not operated.
