Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a saturated polyester resin foam of good quality without causing problems in inflammability and explosiveness of a foaming agent and problems in an environment or the necessity, etc., for modifying the saturated polyester resin.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester resin is melted in an extruder and a foaming agent is pressurized and injected from the middle of a barrel of the extruder into the polyester resin to extrude the molten saturated polyester resin containing the foaming agent from a die. Thereby, the objective saturated polyester resin foam is produced. In the process, polydimethylsiloxane having a lower boiling point under ordinary pressure than the melting point of the saturated polyester resin to be foamed by ≥50°C is used as the foaming agent.
