PURPOSE: To make the action instructed by incidental command information after searching a digital video actively recorded with information for program searching by recording the incidental command information incidental to the active part of the information for program searching.

CONSTITUTION: Sub-codes including ID for program searching (SRID) and digital video signals as still pictures varying with every specified time are recorded within the oblique tracks on a tape. The incidental command information incidental to the active part of the SRID, for example, print marks (PRM) are recorded in the sub-codes. Namely, the PRMs are set and recorded in the SRID set recording block of the image data of the still pictures 2, 5, 6 desired to be outputted by a printer among the still pictures recorded on the tracks. The sub-codes are attached to the video signals, etc., and are simultaneously recorded, by which the sub-codes are effectively utilized at the time of editing and searching.
