Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the number of disk devices for the array disk device.
CONSTITUTION: At the array disk device to divide data bits continuously transmitted from a host device 27 for every prescribed number of bits, to parallelly write/read data at the same time to plural disk devices 13-16 and to prepare parity data for each data having the prescribed number of bits to be written in each disk device corresponding to the number of the disk devices 13-16, a writing means 28 is provided to divide the prepared parity data based on a prescribed order corresponding to the number of the disk devices 13-16, to add the parity data behind the respective data divided into the prescribed number of bits and to write the parity data respectively to the plural disk devices 13-16.
