Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer having excellent heat stability and mechanical physical properties and reduced in odor when molded by polymerizing a trioxane with a cyclic ether and then deactivating a catalyst used and adding a stabilizer, water and alkali (earth) metal salts thereto and heating the reaction mixture. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a trioxane and a cyclic ether is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization catalyst consisting of boron trifluoride (hydrate) and/or a coordination compound of boron trifluoride (hydrate) and an organic compound containing O or S and then a trivalent organophosphorus compound expressed by the formula [R<1> to R<3> are (halogenated)alkoxl, (substituted)alkoxy, mercapto or (substituted)alkoxy is added thereto to deactivate the polymerization catalyst. Then, water is added thereto together with the stabilizer and, further, alkali metal salts and/or alkaline earth metal salts are added thereto and the mixture is heated at 100-260 deg.C to provide the objective oxymethylene copolymer.
