PURPOSE: To enable a general user to generate a rewriting rule and to improve the performance of preediting by generating the rewriting rule from an input sentence which is stored together with an analysis result and the analysis result of a sentence obtained by preediting the input sentence.
CONSTITUTION: When the input sentence is inputted from an input part 1, an analysis part 2 divides the sentence into words and analyzes the syntax. The analysis result is used to generate a translated sentence by a rewriting part 3, a conversion part 4, and a generation part 5. The translated sentence is outputted from an output part 6. If the user does not satisfy the translated sentence which is outputted, the user properly preedits the input sentence to generate an edited sentence. A rule generation part 8 reads the analysis result of the input sentence out of a storage part 7 and make it correspond to the analysis result of the edited sentence. Then part of the analysis result which is used for rule description is taken out according to the correspondence result. Part of the analysis result is combined to generate the rewriting rule.
