PURPOSE: To exactly perform measurement regardless of shape of a face to be measured by movably supporting at least either of a pair of reference contact assembling bodies, moving a probe and measuring the face therewith.
CONSTITUTION: Each reference contact assembling body 1 is matched with width of a measurement label face 6 and fixed on a cylindrical support member 2. A contact 1a is positioned on a specified location of the face 6, a slide body 3a is slid and a probe 4a of a microgage 4 is moved up to an intermediate position between nearly a pair of the assembling bodies 1. A memory and the gage 4 are switched on, a moving assembling body 3 is moved at approximately a constant speed up to positions a, b or c, d, output measurement data of the gage 4 are made Y-coordinate data of the memory, an X-coordinate which indicates a time axis from a time point when the Y-coordinate data are input to the memory is counted and the data is recorded in the coordinate system. At the time of data input completion of the memory, its measurement result is shown on a display or on a printer.
