Title:
LANTHANUM-STABILIZED ALUMINA AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2594879
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce the alumina particularly useful as a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst and excellent in heat stability by successively performing ripening operation and heat treatment of powdery alumina formed through rapid dehydration of aluminum hydroxide or aluminum oxyhydroxide, in the presence of a specific stabilizer.
CONSTITUTION: This production method comprises successively performing ripening operation and heat treatment of powdery alumina formed by rapid dehydration of aluminum hydroxide or aluminum oxyhydroxide, wherein the ripening operation is performed in the presence of at least one stabilizer consisting of a lanthanum compound and a neodymium compound used as an optional component. The stabilized alumina thus produced is a lanthanum- stabilized alumina having a ≥40 m2/g specific surface area after calcination at 1,200°C for 4 hr. Further, the ripening operation is preferably performed at about 100°C (e.g. 95 to 100°C) and the ripening time is usually 1 to 48 hr.
